Ok, I have been cycling my tank as some of you know. Last night around 8:30 I tested for nitrite and got a reading of 0. I wanted to test one more time so I dosed the tank to 4 ppm ammonia. Got up this morning about 7:00 and tested. 0 ppm Ammonia, 3 ppm nitrite. I tested about noon and got 1 ppm nitrite. I just tested again at 3:30 pm and got 0 ppm Ammonia, 0 ppm Nitrite and 160 ppm nitrate. Should I wait until the nitrites disappear faster before getting fish? Should I only be dosing to about 2 ppm ammonia until then? Thanks for your help!

It might be time to add a few fish. If it were me, I'd get a few small fish that would not hurt to lose and watch how they do.

If they're just feeders or cheap fish you dont care about, just add them in whenever. The sooner they get in the tank, the sooner they make a difference. If its fish you DO care about, I'd wait until the ammonia break down isn't happening noticeably faster any more, that means youve gone about as far as you can go IME

Sounds good, thanks for the responses!
