ok ive never had a nitrite problem ever, ive had my 220 up an running for about a yr now i havent added any new fish for 5-6 months now and suddenly im gettin .5ppm readings for nitrites, any ideas of why this may be and any tips/ techniques for eliminating it thanks guys :D
 
ya filters pads were rinsed bout two weeks ago and i will try prime ty

as far as stock plz guys dont get all flamer on me but my stock as of right now is
5x pbass
1xck
2x albino channel cats
1xtiger oscar
1xtsn
1xsoft shell turtle
1x common pleco (1 pbass is sold and will be picked up today, the sst oscar and pleco are up for sale)

How were they rinsed? Tap water? If so, you would have killed the bacteria.

But beyond that, I think you know what your problem is. You may not have added any fish, but I guarantee those fish are lot bigger than they were 5-6 months ago and your filters cannot keep up. How big are those fish? The pbass and channel cats alone are too much for that tank, if they are decent size, if they are not yet, they will be. Not only do you have too many, and too big fish, they are all massive poop machines as well.
