NEW YAWK CITY
so i bought some NLS grow formula thats .5mm. the food is so small that my cichlids dont even see it most of the time. I dont release my pinch until im under the surface so it sinks, and usually the food falls straight down and either lands on the gravel for later consumption or falls too far down. any ideas on what to do. my cichlids are all under 3 inches and they pick at the gravel. Too late to return as ive opened it.

Your surface tension is too high need to break it with some water movement, this will help with the sinking, I had that problem. I also switched to sand and it sits on top of the sand without issue.

i think im going to put them in a 5 gallon bucket of tank water when im doing it, rather be safe than sorry. Also im going to use pool filter sand. I plan on cutting a small hole in a 50lb bag with my dads help and lower it under the surface, then pour. I saw a youtube video and the water didnt even cloud up!

what type of sand do i need? is it just called pool filter sand. im checking out a pool store site and they have different types listed as silica sand and zeo sand.
