Hey everyone,

Kinda annoyed...i have had my orange head geos since the middle of janurary...got them at .5-75 inch long....fed on basically only NLS BAby grow pellets...now 5 months later I think thier at the 2 inch mark. I will measure for sure when i go home.

Tank specs:

72 Gallon Tank

Stock

- 11x Geos
-2x rummy nose (was more...overflow)
- 2x gold rams
- 2x red severum
-4x silver dollars

Filteration:

33 gallon sump... Filter sock - pond matrix -return pump

Temp- 82+ (summer ranges up to 87)

Water Changes - Bi weekly

Any foods that would kick start thier growth...or are they for some reason now stunted??

No fight nothing...they eat all the time.

When i go home i will take a measure to be sure.

The first and most important thing that stands out is the bi-weekly water changes, You should be doing weekly water changes regardless of stock or not. It helps replenish the minerals and everything lost in the water and cleans it. 2nd thing which wasn't mentioned, is the feeding schedule? How often do you feed them? Smaller fish should be fed small amounts multiple times a day instead of just large amounts once or twice a day.

When i go home i will check it...but i use to do weekly checks before i moved (two weeks ago as they still at the old house)... And nitrates were always under 20. Also all of the fish are snall as well...red sev are the biggest at 3 inch i think.

Hopefully after work i can head to the old house...after the tiles floor is put in the fish tank will be broken down and replaced with a 180...which is why these geos gotta grow lmao.

After i posted think few months ago... I defintly would power feed...like 3-4 times a day with nls pellets...forgot to mentipn the cory cats...cory cats would have thier fill as the geos shift the sand.

If they have a slow growth rate...then its fine im just worried that they are growing tooo slow

Once in the new house i could carry out weekly water changes much easier...as ive been constantly busy helping my father with work every day...sucks private buisness...no day off lol

another thing to think about is the competition for food.my 3 SD are nuts at feeding time, they definitely compete with my 4 freddies for food.

As bad as it sounds... Im happy that you are mostly saying... thier slow growers. Its ok, as long as thier healthy and not stunted. The silver dollars are faster... however the geos defintly get thier fill....and honestly I do throw large amounts of food...but good think the cory cats after as well as geos do good job on the bottom.

I'll take a video and upload it soon...as I was unable to go to the old house today...hopefully tomorrow.
