Well, I switch things around in there quite often but usually keep one or 2 fake plants just for stability. I will be setting up a refugium on the tank soon to knock down my nitrates. Live plants with 24 hour lighting in the filter.
No additional media what so ever!!!!!!!

I'm impressed...in a quandary...but impressed.
Refugium huh?! 24 hr lighting? I gotta know how this turns out. You should have a ton of algae, but in YOUR case it will probably be perfect as the laws of nature are not in effect in your tank.
Hahaha, well the numerous plants will keep the algea to a minimum as I found with my planted tank. It will act the same as a refugium in a salt water reef setup.I will keep you posted as abnormalities progress.
