I have had my pond up and running for a couple months now. It doesn't have any shade so I'm wondering why there isn't any algae in the water or around the edges of the liner. There is some algae on the rock where the waterfall/filter runs. Every pond I have had previously had algae in the water....this is the the first time I have run a bio filter, could this explain the no algae in the water. Like I said in the post title, I'm not complaining, just wondering where the algae is :grinno:

The pool liner could have been treated w/something.

it gets sunlight as long as the sun is up...no shade at all
I don't put chemicals in or have a uv light

The water is perfectly clear and no algae...so I'm pretty happy!

Muske: interesting point...since it is a pool liner it could be treated with something??????

My best guess it is probably my filter that is keeping the algae away.

My diy bio filter has lava rock, pot scrubbies, and sponges....apparently they are filtering my pond pretty nicely. Best thing is it only cost me about $15 for the flower pot and the media :)

It will be interesting to see what happens in fall. Spring and fall are string algae seasons. If nothing happens in a few weeks, the liner may be impregnated w/something.

I guess we will see before too long...it's already September! This year has flown by!

No kidding.
