Ok so don't flame me for my dad not knowing, but I thought it was cute so I thought I would share.
After bugging my dad for a while to get some sort of companion, either a cat or another chameleon, he called me out of the blue yesterday to ask me a few questions.
He said he was at the store and they had this "neat little 2.5 gallon hex aquarium" as he put it. Really neat
He said he was looking at some fish, and really liked "these little silver things..."
I asked what type of "silver things"
He tried to describe them: "they are about the size of a silver dollar coin, and silver, and really neat"
hmm... I asked if it was a silver dollar and he said no it started with a "P"
I said "Dad, that's a Pacu. That's going to be like stuffing your steering wheel into your gas tank. It's just not gonna happen."
Jokingly, he said he would just eat it when ever it got big.
I said no. Not gonna happen. If he does I will come steal the fish...
He seemed bummed about it, but said, "well that's why I called you first". He asked about a few other types, and I suggested if he wanted a little tank like that, go with something like my little 5 gallon setup I got from wally world a while back when I needed a holding tank for a hungry puffer... and we could put some little guys in there and make a mini world.
He seemed to like that idea, and asked about shrimp, since he saw ghost and bamboo shrimp. Good direction
I told him to go buy the set up and I would talk him thru the set up, then in a few weeks I would come down and take him fish shopping. I explained the cycling process, and the fact that he couldn't just buy everything at once (including fish) and set it all up in one day.. He gets another excuse for me to come visit, so he's content I think.
One pacu saved, billions more to go.
EDIT: Any MFK women in the Houston area looking for a big teddy bear with a twisted sense of humor? PM ME!! My dad needs a NON crazy woman!
