my aunt toook her filter now and used it in hre 55 so now all i ahve is a bubbler running in my tank and gonna do W/Ces every day cause i cant get to a fish store as my mom has cancer DAMIT im pissed :cry: :cry: so will they be alright
 
Just do your water changes
 
Yeah, do the WC's every day, and monitor your water. Take a bus to get a filter. Sorry about that crappy situation.
 
First of all - sorry about your mother.

Secondly, I wanted to add - I just remembered.... there are air pump driven filters. If you can get a ride, or bike to the LFS, they are pretty cheap - a couple bucks. But otherwise, just do the water changes.
 
People kept fish for hundreds of years using nothing more complicated than regular water changes. In your situation you might want to ask your aunt who took her filter back to help you get a foam internal filter that you can run with the air pump you have now. They dont cost very much and are very effective..even with powerfilters and canisters on all of our tanks I still run them as back ups. Talk to her...if she has fish she should understand how you feel.
 
thanks for the cares every1 and i live in teh country so buse is outa the Q tho but do any MFKers have tanks without filters with cichs?
 
When the power goes out, I MANUALLY aerate aquaria with cichlids, pouring and cupping water over and over again... You'll be okay with an air pump :)
 
I have two tanks with nothing but foam filters on them....air driven. In the past however I kept two adult oscars in an unfiltered tank for over a year.
