Went to the Nashville airport today to pick up some rays I had coming in. I got the great news that US customs did an inspection that caused the rays to miss their flight. Have to plan another day next week. Bummed out, I went to my favorite fish store to boost moral. I walked straight to the tank where they have rays for sale and guess what I found? They had 2 true Hystrix rays. They never have anything besides motoros and teacups (retics). I quickly looked at the tags on the tank and didn't see hystrix anywhere. They had a motoro tag, a teacup tag, and a laticeps tag. They had these listed as laticeps rays with a price tag of $125. Of course I wasn't going to argue the mis ID. I looked and saw they were male and female. Needless to say, they are in my QT tank as we speak. The female is a touch on the thin side but is eating ghost shrimp. Just a matter of time and she will be fat again. My wife is not happy, but you sometimes just can't let a steal of a deal pass by.
