no idea what kind a fish this is help

just wondering if anyone knows what kind of fish this? i bought at the lfs and they weren't real sure they said it was a shark. but what kind ? would like some more info so i know how to properly care for it. so why not ask the pros

looks like Leporinus fasciatus??? could be completely wrong though. some sort of head stander?

Looks like a banded leporinus, Leporinus affinis. They get about a foot long and can sometimes be a bit aggressive.

yeah i was cleaning my pond last fall so i put my goldfish in my tank why i did it. bad idea he killed the 8" gold fish befor i even knew it . he doesn't mess with my cichlids thought

They will get it on when pushed and will fight holding their own with alot of cichlids! Mine is full growen and he is in with a jag, dempsey, flowerhorn, greenterror, a couple of africans and a cat right now. He has been in with many different fish over the years though.
