Through the years i have owned 3-4 G.T.s,but have never had any luck with them.Do these fish have different needs than other cichlids?Mine never ate right and died shortly afterwords,Is a ph of 7.0 ok??Is there a food preference?Or are flakes and pellets ok??How about tankmates??Are they slow growers??Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have had my green terrors for about 2 years and i have never had any problem with them i think mine are bullet proof because my cousin thought carbon was fish food and fed my green terrors carbon pieces.i keep the temp at 76-78 degrees and have the lights on a 7/14 schedule which is on for 7 hours and off for seventeen.I fed mine leeches, rosys and Purina mills Aquamax Carnivour Pellets.I even had the power go out and they survived for 32 hours with no air being pumped into the tank.I have had them breed at 3''.

As for tank requirments they prefer SOFT water,As for Ph they prefer 6-7.5 i personaly keep mine at 6.8 because i have seen theyre colors flourish at this Ph.Food in No Question because mine are Oinkers and eat ANYTHING But Prefer Live Food like Leeches,Rosys,Bloodworms and the Live Black Worms. As for Dry food Pellets that arent Rock Hard,Cichlid pellets,Algea Discs,And Mine will Only Touch RainBow Flakes. They Need a Tank At of a minimum of 55 Gallon But A 65-75 Gallon would be better. When Breeding they Are Little DEMONS and even will Attack the glass if they see theyre reflection. When Breeding theyre Average Brood is 400 Depending on the size on the parents. As for tankmates I Have tried
Aequidens tetramerus ,
Aequidens tetramerus ,
Aequidens patricki ,
Aequidens sp. "Korias" (Only when this fish is full grown should it be kept with Gts)
Neetroplus nematopus (Never Put a Pair on them in there with anything They Are PURE EVIL and should be about 2 inches smaller then the gt's/

And finally the 'Cichlasoma' pearsei .

They Grow pretty fast mine went from 3'' to 7'' in 8 months.

Hope this helps.
