What am I doing wrong with clown knives? Got one about a year ago and kept it in a 55 grow out, went from about 3 to 4" then died when the other grow out fish were fine, no water problems or signs of disease and all other fish were fine. Got one a couple of days ago and added it to my 260 it was 2.5" and the only tank mate is a 3" lima and woke up this morning and he's floating around unable to stay upright. Water is fine, no signs of disease or damage. Are they just fragile at this size?

I'm presuming fragile, I often see slightly larger fish for sale

I don't have any experience with clowns but my 1st BGK only lasted 2 days but that was due to water quality (before I understood cycling and water changes)

Were they eating well? Starvation could have been an issue. And they are vulnerable to the effects of the water settling into your tank when you first fill it up, since they aren't thick-scaled fish.

They either have no scales or small ones.
