I have always been anti- Red Parrot for a number of reasons:
These fishes have a grossly deformed body with unnatural spinal curvature. This affects their internal organs which are crammed into a smaller space with a different shape to that nature intended.
Hybrids are extremely rare in nature. Where they occur it's invariably because something has gone wrong and usually tapering by man is at the root of the problem. Most hybrids are infertile - natures way of ensuring the species integrity is preserved.
Red Parrots are a 3 way mix of South and Central American species. The Parrots temperment is variable, with the South American behavourial inheritance predominating in some and the Central in others. This is why some Parrots are Pussycats, while others are real tigers.
Size also seems to be a random factor. Thus, for every fishkeeper who gets a dwarf or peaceful Parrot, there is one who aquires a clone of Attila the Hun.
