So... Hurricane Sandy has knocked 3 trees on my block down and subsequently my power since 6pm. I unfortunately do not have a generator so any tips would be appreciated asap. Sincerely, nerve wracked fellow mfker

but your bio media in your main tank so it has access to your fish waste/water.

I'm in the exact same position as you right now, haven't had power since around 5:30pm

Put the biomedia in the tank. Scoop out water and dump it back in to agitate the surface and draw air into the water. Do it as often as possible. What are you using for biomedia?

Yea i took all bio out of filters and put it in it's respective tanks. I use seachem bio max and I put 2 mesh bags full in the 125 and 1 sock ( all I could think of) in the 40 gallon. My main concern was the oxygen level. I didnt know if I should drain the tank a little or what

Agitate water by scooping water out and putting it back in.

Heat up water in a bucket then stick bucket in tank(don't pour water out)

Don't feed.

That's what I've gathered so far.

Luckily I found an inverter so I have 2 sponge filters rated for 125 gallons each running in the 125 and a regular air pump running in the 40 gallon. Im just leaving the car on all night and praying for a miracle tomorrow lol

Don't feed. Change small amounts of water occasionally, with warm water if neccessary to maintain oxygen levels and temp. Don't stir up junk on the botton and try to remove any crap that you see with a net.

You could run an extension cord to your car if you have an inverter to run an air pump or small powerhead. Put the powerhead low in the tank and aim it up toward the top to move water from bottom to top.

Hang in there! My prayers are with you folks out east!!
