Hi everyone I recently called my local water supply and asked if they put chloramine or chlorine in there water and he said they don't put any chemicals in the water so can I just do water changes without adding prime or safe coat or should I still add some to be safe thanks.

your avatar says you're in LA..? either that's inaccurate (& you're on a well, elsewhere), or some flunky answered the water dept phone. all major cities have to treat the water.
If you want to go for it, other don't use conditioners as well

There was a time a few years ago when I didn't use anything for my tanks, just pure tap water. I honestly believe it just depends on how good or bad your water is. I don't live in the country, just a small town. I now use it though and have for the past year or so only simple to be safe, never lost a fish the other way though. I plan on getting a big RODI unit to be extra sure and do away with prime in all.
I just googled the Downy water quality report, it appears because your water comes from a deep well, no chlorine or chloramine is added, and because of the lack of microbial contamination, none is needed..
