Who out here in fish world has toothless overflows? How do you keep the fish from going over? I had teeth on mine but the flow was restricted so much I cut them off and now I get so much more turn over but I'm afraid when I start to populate my tank the fish might go for a ride

Can you cut a piece of egg crate and attach it to where the teeth were. The egg crate squares will still allow the water to flow and keep your fish from getting by.

I don't have any tanks here that still have the teeth in the overflows. I cut them all out as soon as I get them.

Egg grate lets quite a bit of stuff through food wise......

I use black gutter guard. Just drill some holes and attach with zip ties.

Usually with no teeth the thickness of the sheet of water is very thin. Depending on what you plan on keeping, may not have any issues. Google coast to coast overflow. They dont use teeth and are somewhat common in all kinds of setups but the water going over is maybe 1/4 inch deep compared to 1/2 inch or more in an overflow with teeth

One of my overflows is a CPR, and doesn't have any weirs.
Fry and small juvies have sometimes slipped thru and ended up in the sump, but they also do that in overflows with weirs, once they are over an inch or so it becomes
less likely.

Even with weirs I sometimes use gutterguard screen to keep larger pieces of plant or debris from clogging weirs.
