Hi,

Just set up my sump with 15 litres of K1 Micro this is powered by a v30 air pump (30 litres per minute) it’s just about moving ... I know this takes time but it’s SOOOOOO NOISY!!!
I’m thinking of using foam acoustic pads on the inside of the cabinet.... will it work? Or do you have any better suggestions?

Thank you in advance

It looks like your flow might be stronger than necessary if it is pushing the media out of the water.
Foam pads look smart.

This is speculation, so please take with a grain of salt. Putting foam in a really moist environment sounds like it would be a breeding ground for mold.
Yeah I agree it might be a bit of a health issue, I have a similar issue with the tank in the shed. But when I bring it inside I'll be using Styrofoam instead of the foam as it doesn't android the water and should hopefully block out alot of noise.

You're better off trying to close off all the openings on the cabinet before trying that. Once the cabinet sealed, you could try some sound isolation material. The material you linked isn't for sound isolation, it's more for improving sound qualit by reducing the "echo" effect of the sound waves bouncing around. Materials designed to block sound have a high density. That foam isn't going to block the sound.

is that a circular air stone? you might try a straight one that fits the length along the front to move it in a more front to back circular motion than straight up the middle. is it the media hitting the sump side noise or the air noise you're concerned with?

I agree on switching out the bubblering ro an cylindrical airstone instead. And i think you can even add more media. I think the formula says 1L/m per L of k1. Then the media is new so it will take some weeks before they will start to sink by them self.
