I've got a better way (I'll let some one else say that Durso's are old news :D ).

Ditch both Durso's and then cut two stand pipes. Make one the height of where you want the water level, and make the other a half inch shorter. Add a gate valve in the plumbing with the shorter stand pipe. Don't valve the taller one.

When the system is running, close the valve down slowly. The water level will rise to the taller stand pipe. Close the valve until there is just a trickle going down the taller stand pipe. This method is 100% silent. There won't be a single gurgle or slurp. It is so quiet that you'll be looking for ways to silence the sump and pump (the ways are out there). You'll end up with an amazingly quiet tank.

I like the sound of water. Which is quite loud in my room from the 4 tanks.
