Noisy Pump**VIDEO**

So ive recently set up this hob skimmer and the pump is making this loud chattering noise. If i shut the air valve, the noise goes silent. When i first set it up it didnt do it. The next mornin it was makin this noise. Ive takin the impeller out to make sure there wasnt any obstructions. Disconnect the air lines and blew them out,....nothing. please help, this is my first skimmer (Berlin X2 Turbo). Its brand new. Attached a vid, maybe you can hear it. Have you tried calling or emailing Red Sea I hear it but it don't seem like nothing more then just the initial break-in of the pump itself. I have to get a hold of my friend at Red Sea and send him this video for you.

my friend wrote this reply.

"It sounds like the impeller might be bad and is rattling around in the pump. I would call Red Sea down in Houston to get a replacement. If it is 1-year from date of purchase (with receipt) they should give your friend a new one free of charge. Otherwise, he might have to buy a new impeller." I got this skimmer new and Never took it out of the box, I would call red sea like he recommended and if you have to pay send me the receipt and I'll send you money for the impeller through pay-pal.

also you can make a silencer out of an old pill bottle..
drill a small hole in the bottom big enough for the air line, run the hose in the bottom up to about 1/2 " from the top then drill another hole on the top and put a piece of a bic pen shaft in the top almost down to the bottom of the pill bottle and you now have a silencer..

Kinda lost me there....this is the silence the impeller?
 
new impeller came in yesterday. Installed it today and no more chattering and microbubbles. Pinky @ Red Sea was awesome. Excellant cust. service.
