Hey guys, I've been researching for hours about a certain fish that one of my friends let me have today and for the life of me I cannot put a name to its face...I was hoping that with the provided video and pictures that someone can help me with this issue...thank you in advance.

It's in the sunfish family. Like a green or a longear but I'm no expert.

Definitely not a cichlid!

LOL thats what i was thinking, but didnt want to sound stupid and it be something other than a sunfish

Looks like a Longeared Sunfish.

thanks for clarifying that it wasn't a cichlid...I managed to find some pics and it's definitely a green sunfish...now my question is, on a scale of 1 to 10, how good of a tank mate is this for south american cichlids?

It is a Sunfish. Your friend probably got it from a pond or something nearby. They are everywhere in Florida.

actually she got it from a feeder tank full of goldfish lmao...she's been taking very good care of it for about 5 months now in a community tank of about 120 gallons or so.
