I always feel funny posting pictures in the photo lounge that aren't related to fish and aquaria. The lounge is great for the funny pix, but doesn't really seem appropriate for nature shots.

Anyways, this is a photo of an Oak gall I found while walking in the woods last week. Hope you like it, next post here will be a fish picture! :)

It is an Oak gall. They are caused by a wasp laying its egg in an Oak leaf. They form these galls and then the larva eats the insides as it develops. The mature wasp popped out through a small hole (not visible). The thing kind of resembled a hollow puffball fungus attached to a leaf. There are actually many different shapes and colors of galls, they are often pretty cool-looking.
