non food grade plastic?

:confused::confused::(:screwy::WHOA:i just went to the lfc and was looking for filter foam n stuff and i was tanking to the guy and he goes "ohh no i wouldnt use that " and i was like **** i already have!!!!! so now i dont know what to do he said i have to buy food grade tubs so the plastic doesnt leak its poisn in to the tank. :irked: is this true? has anyone used non food grade plastic? i use too use non food grade plastic tubs to heat the water up and never had any problems?? help! :confused::confused::eek::eek: i got some pics of the set up i have made its not finished its just the shell!

There is a possibility that some plastic containers could potentially leach stuff into the water. Many are made of recycled materials so you would have to research the manufacturers' website for that particular products ingredients.
 
Chances are pretty good that the stuff you have will be OK to use.
Not 100%, but close.
You could fill-em-up and toss some inexpensive "testing" fish in and observe, but truthfully, I would just trust that the fish gods wouldn`t have let me buy anything that would kill off my fish.
