What are your opinions on a non pellet diet? I feed my dovii tilapia, raw shrimp, krill, earthworms, beefheart, bloodworms, occasionally a crab or crawdad, and insects I find in the yard. The pellet I was feeding was massivore but I ran out so I'm exploring other options. Thanks for any feedback.

We feed pellets due their nutrient densities and that they are complete diets for our fish. No need to ever feed beef heart for obvious reasons (dovii don't prey on cows...) and feeding lots of terrestrial insects and bugs can lead to internal issues. Those are all "treat" foods and don't make up the complete diet your dovii will need.

Raw prawns , muscles , whitebait , worms (earth , meal and wax if small fish) , I fed my jardini aro all of these because he'll only eat one type if pellet and he's an absolute beast now

I can cross out the beefheart, it's been in my freezer for months anyways, and I didn't know about the insects thanks for that. Evz thanks for that list.

I wanted to go non pellet for my managuense because of the wheat, soy and who knows what else that a fish would not normally eat in them..then I became concerned about thiaminase in frozen foods and whether or not frozen foods provide the right amount of vitamin content...I concluded on going wth both..and give him bloodworms, shrimp with pellets inserted..
