Now call me old fashioned but are those non return valves I pick up from my local store really meant to hold that 6mm line or could it be that the tank that I have had drain itself and my parents tank are really trying to tell me somthing. In short. Does anyone know where I can find really high quality non return vavles that maybe have a thread so that the line can be screwed tight. I am sick of accidents!!non return valve question

Have you ever worked with PVC? you could always try barb fitting glued or threaded into a schedule 40 or 80 manual check vavle(making sure its mounted virtical). I find that even the cheap check valves from the local hardware are pretty reliable at stopping back flow
