hey guys, i have 3 dats, 2 ntt, 1 indo. all three dats have been flashing and dartin non-stop. i have some cichlids in the tank as well, but they seem to be doing just fine. even when i look @ my dats very closely, i can't find any visible parasites. no white dots, so i don't think it's ich, and i don't see any yellowish dots either...but they're scratching on pretty much everything.
and now my biggest ntt is just sitting on the botm, not very active. my water parameter is pretty normal. about 20 on General Hardness, about 8 for pH, 0 NO2-, 20 NO3-. i treated the tank with copper safe for a week alrdy, and it seems not effective.
help! :nilly:

well my datnoids are like that at first i was worried but i just left them alone. and i havent had any problem them dying off.

I think its gill flukes. Perform huge daily water changes and try fluke tabs or clout. My guess is the NTT spread it around. Up aeration, try to get fine bubbles with air stones or diffusers. Addition of salt will greatly help to. Good luck bro

Ive had fish do this before. Problem is, I observed the fish and it didnt appear as if they were sick. Someone told me flashing could be from them trying to rub old scales off. Its not always necessarily the fish is sick when you see this behavior. But really, it makes you uneasy sometimes. But I really dont know if this is true. If it is then it would probably be a common thing and everyone would see it every now and then.

its normal

unless you see problems with your other fish dont do anything

i'm pretty sure it's not something normal. for almost 2 yrs i have these dats, they have never behaved like that. i mean i do see flash every now and then. but this time is different. they wouldn't stop flashing everyday.
although my cichlids aren't flashing, but i do see my cat fish and my flagtail darting quite often.
i did some research online and i'm thinkin it mite be skin or gill fluke...going 2 do a water change rite now
thanks every1 for the help!

How are the other Dats now? Sorry to hear about your loss:(

Sorry to hear bro. My school of 26 NTT did the same thing out of the blue and I tried everything. After a few died I seen that the mouths were open and the gills were bright red. I used clout and did daily waterchanges and was able to save the rest. Hope the rest pull through
