hey! got a few beginner saltwater setup questions for the salt masters.

I read up after your tank cycles (which mine just has...) you develop brown algae. So im in the brown algae phase, now are there any tricks or hints on how to start the green algae to take over quickly? and nip this brown in the bud?

ALSO, i was wondering if i am supposed to stir and clean out my crush coral at the bottom of the tank with a vacuum just like i would my freshwater sand?
- I haven't been cleaning it up to date because it just feels wrong to be sucking all the "live" out of my substrate...

What is the proper way to keep a new saltwater tank clean?

Thank you so much for any input i would to ensure my critters live..

On a positive note; No there are no nitrates, nitrites or ammonia in the tank, that part i have under control...

if you wanna speed up algae growth keep all the windows in the room open

I would just let your tank do it naturally so you don't get a bloom that is too big and crashes the fresh tank

What is the proper way to keep a new saltwater tank clean? good feeding habits don't over feed. Test your parameters and go slow with all your livestock the longer you wait the better.

hmmmm....okay thx!

so i sucked out some of the algae, doesn't seem to be getting out of hand... i 'll just leave it and see where it takes me.

Thanks for tips,
