Noob fisher, looking for good freshwater spots in CT

I live in Waterford, CT and im looking for some good freshwater fishing near by. I've fished in dodge pond and groton pond without any luck but its still early in the year.

anybody live near here know good spots to hit without a boat?

Nice, thanks. ill check it out on the next few days i have off. what kind of bait do you suggest I use? right now all I have is plastic worms and roster tails but Im planning on stoping by DICKS on my way out.
