Noob getting shafted?

Ok guys...

I've been looking for plec's to buy for my tank... I've only recently been exposed to all the cool type of plec's available. I like them so much I'm thinking of having a plec based tank, with other fish around but the plec's as the stars of the show (so to speak...)

So yeah I been doing my research online and at LFS etc... Can somebody tell me what kind of prices I should be expecting to pay for the following...?
Plecs:
L18 - Golden Nugget Pleco... 3-4" in size
L134 - Leopard Frog Pleco... 2.5" in size
Cats:
Synodontis Decorus Catfish - 7-9cm
Pim Pictus Catfish - 7-8cm

Also I've been trying hard to locate a Phantom and Zebra plec, I've had no luck finding any phantoms, but I found two zebra's. Problem being... The guys saying, their banned from being exported now... So there 400GBP a pair!!! That's like 822 USD! (Remember these guys are less then 3"!!! ) Now call me a tight Brit, but seriously guys, that figure can't be right can they?

I love Zebra plecs but if there that price, I'll be finding an alternative... Cos thats more then my entire setup cost, probably more then my car cost even lol.

I'm in no rush to buy, so I'm not about to go and get shafted by some slime ball... But still, I don't like to feel like someone's lubing me up just because I'm a noob!

Would be grateful for feedback.

heheh, seems like everywhere i look, prices vary. Look around the different auction sites and that may give you some ideas. I go to aquabid alot to look around. (to name one).
 
Here Zebra plecos L46 go any where from $240-$390 USD at 3" long. Check out www.riverwonders.com and you will find the upper end of USA prices.
 
Depending on the zebra, you can even expect far over $400. If it is a female, and large enough for breeding, then expect some huge prices. Zebra's are not cheap, they are banned from export. If you want plecs, contact Blue at Exoticfinds.net, he can also be found in our vendor forum. He has the best selection, and usually has green phantoms in stock.
 
Ah you made me feel kind of bad now, the guy selling the Zebra's I kind of gave him a mouthful and told him what I thought. Something along the lines of, "if they really are that rare and he's any sort of true fish man he should keep them, or ensure they go to a good home, not just the highest bidder..."

I've just called him to say sorry.... lol *how silly do i feel now*

I'll be contacting blue, will he ship to the UK? Just checked his site, he has some really nice plec's.
