I was reading some of the posts about colour variations about Jar's and got to thinking..

I just bought a 'GOLDEN AUSTRALIA AROWANA' for $80 which arrived very yellowish[which I wasn't too impressed with, seeing as how any small Jardini I've had is yellow..] and was wondering if tank background actually affects the fish colour output? He's only 3" in a 30Gal right now, but I got to thinking.. If I covered all the tank walls in the same colour for the majority of his stay in the 30gal, would this affect his colour at all?

Background: He's in a fluorescent-lit black substrate aquarium right now, with nothing but a small piece of driftwood.

Oh, and sorry if I can't put one-and-one together from the other topics, I'm not too great when it comes to this kinda' iffy technical stuff.

Thaaaaanks. :grinno:

IMO. the color variations that are claimed have a lot to do with the combination of the background and substrate color, the color and intensity of the lighting on the tank, along with the camera taking the picture. Not really sure they are any real color variations other then the ultra rare ones.
