I'm thinking of converting from SA/CA setup and make the switch to pike cichlids. I have a 125g long tank. Question: How many full grown pikes could I keep and can you mix different species? Thanks.

Mixing species is a hit and miss proposition. Sometimes you can do it in extra large tanks, or with lots and lots of cover. Some species are more aggro than others also. With a 125 I would be inclined to not throw more than one species in, especially lugubris group. Even same species, they can be jerks to one another.
i once had a 7 inch pike cichlid and thought he could use a friend.so off to the lfs were i got the first one.cool thet got another one in 6 inches right on.i wasnt more than a couple of days and the larger one was swallowing the smaller one and they where almost the same size.
Thats tragic. I'm gonna order some through Rapps so my best bet is to get them young, the same size, and get them at the sametime.
