Hi all, I'm just now learning everything about sumps and all of its components, and wanted to know if I could pick up/make a bulkhead from the pvc fittings at home depot-not sure if this is possible, as I do see them available on the net...
Thanks!
John

I have made bulkheads from more commonly available pvc fittings at home depot and lowes, but actual bulkheads work much better. The pvc fittings are much more likely to leak.

Besides, most bulkheads cost less than $10 each, so there's not much point trying to cobble something together and risk it leaking, IMO.

ok so I just got off the phone w/ an lfs and they were saying that for a 1in bulkhead on a schedule 40 (thickness of plastic) runs $25-and the same 1in on a schedule 80 runs $35...is this about average pricing?

That's very high for shedule 40. 1" shed 40 should run you no more than $12 and sched 80 should cost about 25 bucks.
