I have an extra 45 gallon tank and i was thinking about getting some dats. My question is what is their agression like. Could i keep only two of them in a tank or would they be better off if i had three?

are you planning to upgrade your tank they can get pretty large.

Yes but for i plan on getting small ones and thats just a grow out tank but will two be fine?

2 will be fine... 3 will be almost the same with the aggression. a lot of people trip out about lil dats punking each other, but its like dogs playing with each other. they ruff house.

they may ruff house as you call it but when it really comes down to it if one is stressing the other out and not letting it feed its not too good for the stressed and not eating datnoid.
i had 2 in a 106gal tank they were around 1 1/2'' when i got them and one grew to around 2 1/2'' and the other stayed the same size due to minimal feeding and having to hide behind a filter for almost 2 1/2 months.
i traded themfor 1 bigger one it was not right.
why not buy around 4-5 and keep the best and sell on the others when they get big.

Agree with Dixon, I wouldn't do to unless there is a pretty decent size defference, but with only a 45 gallon tank you really can't get a larger 1.

If you are going to do it anyway, your best bet is NTT's as they tend to be the most timid. (still wouldn't recommend it though)

The only tank I have with ONLY 2 dats has 2 NTT's. 4" and 9". Needless to say, that tank is bigger then 45g

Cool thats what i plan on getting, think i might just play it safe and just get one now
