Hi i know this may sound like a really stupid question to all you experienced mfks but here we go anyway...


can i feed my arowana on seafood like fresh mussels and prawns (either fresh or frozen) stuff like that.

please dont be too harsh :(
 
I'm not sure about mussels but people feed their aros shrimp all the time. Usually frozen but defrosted before feeding :). Don't forget to de shell too
 
Yes, feeding defrosted prawn/shrimp is fine.
 
not sure about aro' but i feed my cat's mussell meat and limpet meat and they love it!!

catch them, put into boiling water for a couple of mins so they drop out of their shells, then freeze. just defrost then feed.

free food ;-)

ive never had any issues feeding saltwater fish/food to freshwater fish as part of their diet. .
 
besides thawed shrimp and fish, mine also get scallops and most other FW or SW seafood that people eat
 
Shrimp (fresh from the market) are the staple for all my "Monsters" (Silver Aro, FL Gars and this is what I plan to feed my Gator Gars).

I have recently bought a 4 lbs bag of frozen shrimp as they are significantly cheaper. (I feed them after defrosting them.)

My Aro doesn't like them and eats them only if he is starving for a day or two. The Gars, on the other hand, gobble it down with no problems.

Other food I add to the staple (of shrimp) are: Silver Sides, Kalamari, Jumbo Krill and other assorted sea-food depending on what is fresh at the market.

feed it tenebrius morio, the giant tenebrius... they are a great food source
u can feed the beetle that comes in the box too!
