kennesaw, ga
right now i have a planted 10g and im picking up a cheap 55g this afternoon. im pretty sure i want to turn it into a African Cichlid tank. i love the colors of these fish. i've seen most 55g african tanks have about 10 smaller fish with alot of rocks and sand substrate. what kind of filtration would you guys recommend and what fish exactly. it would probably be over the summer when i set it up actually

I had a 55 Tanganyikan setup with 2 AC110's that I took down last year. I had rockwork the entire length of the tank and about 2/3 the way up and used white sand as substrate. I had 3 3" Alto Comp Gold Head 'Muzi', 7 2" Black Calvus, breeding pair of neolamp leleupi, neo lamp brichardi 'daffodil', 2 julidochromis marlieri and 2 julidochromis transcriptus and 1 yellow lab which is a malawi. It was a beautiful setup but I took it down and sold it and upgraded to a 125 CA/SA when I bought my condo. What a b**** to clean though.

Canister and/or biowheel.

On my 75 I have an Eheim 2215 and a Penguin 350, but it is an amazon tank.

what about stocking rules? i would like to do a mbuna tank or some peacocks and labs. how many would fit in a 55g? is there a rule of males to females and are they easy to sex?
