Sleepin with the fishes
Hello everybody my name is Brandon. I recently discovered my true love for fish when my oscar got pretty sick and in a desperate attempt to save his life i turned to the web for information and stumbled across this forum. I guess i never really knew how many different types of fish there were out there :WHOA:. anyway im glad to say this site and a few others have helped me alot and my oscar is almost back to his normal self.

I must admit i never took very good care of my fish because i didnt know much about them but i have been researching for about 2 weeks to make sure my oscar and all fish i get in the future will live a long and healthy life :)

I currently have a 55 gallon tank with my 12" to 13" oscar and a large common Pleco which is probably the same size or possibly a little bigger and im getting a 125gal tank with 2 RBPs from a friend soon hopefully :D

thats all for now and i hope to become an active member of this forum soon after i feel i have done enough research on piranhas to adequately care for the ones i am getting

Pirahna's in a 125?? Doesn't sound like a very good idea, especially with your big oscar, he'll end up fin nipped at least. I'd upgrade to a 200g+ to give them ample swimming space and grow out room. Also ensure you know exactly what you're doing with them with regard to dietary requirements and aquarium layout to give them the best growing conditions as possible.

it might be a little bigger than a 125 and my friend has had them in there for a few years and they wont be going in with the oscar he is staying in the 55 for now. but if i need to i will buy a bigger tank.

also i will ensure i know exactly what im doing before i even pick them up

Dude, I have a very similar setup, 1 O', 2 RBP, 1 Pleco, 2 Raphaels, 100 gal.

The RBP and the O get along great, they are always together (maybe the O thinks hes a piranha, or the other way around) and while sometimes they fight, they have never really hurted each other, they just go into a kind of "silent shout contest" if you will.

I think it is because they have been together since they were really small, I dont know what would happend if you just toss them together as adults.
