First of all, is it better to keep crayfishes in a tank with "deep water" or in a small pond with "shallow" water? I've recently caught crayfishes and I have them set up in both situations. The small ones are in a 55 gal tank and seem to be doing very well. The large ones are in a 5 ft diameter pond (water is about 6-10 in deep). Well, in the pond, there are bricks and rocks that break the surface. My question is, why do crayfishes climb those rocks and lean over to one side?
Seems like they're trying to get air or something. In the 55 gal tank, there are driftwood that breaks the surface as well, but I don't see the little ones doing that. Any info would be great. Thanks.
