Is this a bad idea to give to tangs? I brought up the idea on another site after hearing about it and was treated like an idiot because apparently it is made for human consumption, yet every pack i see the ONLY ingredient is seaweed. Am i missing something??

no... this is exactly what we do at work and what i do at home..

just dont get anything that's been seasoned..

like literally, an @$$load of people do this...

Thankyou, thats all i need to hear. I think this MOD on the other site hates me for having a dif opinion to them once lol.

what site?

***********.com

I just had a better read and they did say no seasonings but still not their best choice for seaweed as it "is for human consumption". Plus i think they are negative to my 3-5 feedings a day and the fact that my 6" regal is an 1" wide.

im fairly certain the FDA has higher standards for food prep than fish food producers... lol

is there a federal food saftey board of some sort in AUS?
im sure their standards are higher too

and japanese... well they basically eat fish food anyway lol

LOL, good call. I guess this person believes their opinion is the ONLY way to do things, which means i have to go back and stir them up a bit LOL!!!

Nori is FINE for tangs..just make sure you get the unseasoned and the unroasted.. get the plain ole unflavored un cooked naturaly (sun) dried nori and you and your tangs will both be happy...heck my large angels, tangs, moorish idol, and scat love it

eh roasted is acceptable...
But tends to fall sort much quicker

In a pinch roasted nori would work

I use nori.
ALL of the public aquariums/zoos I have ever delt with rely on nori for a lot of the grazer type reef fish.
Mazuri gel diet is heavy with nori.... some forms are even nori based.

Tell that mod to read a book or something haha.
