We finished moving this weekend, and everyone is doing fine... I think. The fish ended up spending quite a bit of time longer than expected in the massive chili pot I transported them in... About three hours. When I finally got them back in the tank, the senegals were extremely pale - almost pink and very lethargic. I was worried sick. The normal tan/grey has returned on most of their body, except for their upper lip between their two whiskers or feelers or whatever they are called. They are both still very pale there and I don't know why. Their appetite came back; theyre a little ticked that I havent offered rosies...if they cant hunt it, they get bored :D. Im pleased with the way they look because I sort of figured the move might shock them to death, but I'm still a little worried. Any thoughts???

One more question. Is Bichir pronounced BIKER?????

don't worry...the pale color on the upper lip is probably from rubbing of the side of the pot you transport them in, or could be due to rubbing during netting. they should be fine in several days. fyi those two things are called nostrils. and i say 'bi-ker'

Thank you :) Those lil buggers are gettin big - making me proud lol

The overall pale body color was probably stress. As Infblue said the lip discoloration is probably from rubbing during the move. The tube you reffer to are the visible external nostrils,Like most fish bichirs have paired nostrils. The nostrils you see are used for the intake of water the water passe thru them into an olfactory rosette the out thru a second set thats extremely hard to see-Anne
