Hey guys -

I bought a teacup ray couple days ago and I need a little help.

I made sure he is eating before I brought him home from the store, however after I brought him home, it has been 3 days and I still haven't seem him eat anything.

I tried to feed him shrimp pellets, cut fish, earthworm and he doesn't seem to be interested in any of those. He did approach earthworm, but after he hump on it, he swim away.

LFS fed him blackworm, but I don't want the ray to eat blackworm only. He seem to be dragging at the bottom. He moves, but not much. Also his color seem very light.

I am just curious what's consider normal ray behavior? Do they not swim much at all just kind walk around? What should I try to feed him? Maybe he is still adjusting to the tank?

I wouldn't be surprised if you just got a ray and it's not eating for a few days. AGAIN, posting the tank size would be helpful. Also if the ray has tankmates, tell us. You might want to try blackworms. I know you don't want him to stay on those, so you could wean him off to something else, but you've got to get him to atleast eat something.

I fed him blackworm and ghostshrimp and he went crazy after those. I guess I am not too worried anymore :) He is just a picky eater.

Tank size - 160gallon
Tankmate - 6 clownloches, 1 large tinfoil barb, 2 tiny tinfoil barb, 2 silver dollars, 1 tiny pleco and will have a jardini in the tank next week.

None of my fish bother w/ the ray and the ray is very peaceful.

Jardini are the only aros not to put with rays, they are ray killers. I think the main reason for this is the fact that they are mid water swimmers. I kept a Jardini with my rays until he was 13" and then all of a sudden i could see that he was getting aggresive, so i got him out without any damage to the rays or him.
