I added 3 Botia Kobutai to my tank last week & they are the first loaches I have ever kept. I've seen a lot of odd behavior & I'm wondering if its normal or if I should worry. There are 2) 2" and 1) 1.5". They are very active & seem to enjoy all the current & hiding spots. They have been getting 25% WC's every 3 days. Water parameters are normal. 0 Ammo, 0 nitrite, 20 ppm nitrate. Please throw some Loachaholic knowledge my way! Wierd stuff:

1) Holding / being sucked onto the power head inlet. They just hold onto the screen & relax for a few minutes...?

2) Body slamming themselves onto the sand & each other. No Ick, no rubbing on decor & no other fish rubbing or flashing. They just randomly slam their bodies into the sand or slam into one another, then go about their business. They only do this once or twice a day.:screwy:

3) Big appetite, but wont eat with other fish. They wait until everyone else is done, then go searching for leftovers. I have tried all kinds of food & they like it all, but no frenzy or hurry.:irked:

Again, they are hungry, active, colorful & spot free. I have heard of internal parasites with these fish. Would that make them act wierd like this?
THANKS!!!!!!!!

All of that is par for the course for loaches. They do some strange stuff
