I just wanted to post this to see if we could figure out some answers....

Pic on the right is what this ray looked like saturday night. Picture on the left is what the SAME ray looks like two days later!!!

Things that changed.... ray went from RO to out of tap, i picked this guy up from another member not sure what the ph difference is, i measured once way back but i tossed out my kit long ago..... Water temp when i put him in was at 74... ray went from having almost no light (was in a garage) to having natural light in the room. Only time the lights on the tank are on is to take pictures...

I believe lighting plays a big part as for as pattern and color appearance.
As well as how light or dark the bottom of tank is, whether it be bare bottom
or with substrate. Maybe with the grainy look of the wood on your bottom
helped with the marbling. JAT
My marbles are kept in tap water. And marbled up tremendously several hours
and days after receiving them. Especially compared to the photos that the vendor had.
They are housed in the basement so I must turn lights on if I want to observe
them.:)

I have been keeping a progression of photos since receiving my mable pair. (end of Sept)
I take photos every month just to be able to observe the subtle changes that you don't
see when observing them every day.

My lighting is a big part in my rays coloring. My tigers and flower look fantastic when the lights first come on but as the the day goes on thier color fades alot. I've also noticed this on alot of my other rays.

its stress mate. marbling is stronger depending on there mood. it becomes more stable over time.

I would think it would be the other way around if it was stress.... lose color... not gain it.... i would be more inclined to say either lighting or water difference

I think what he meant is, it loses marbling when it gets stressed but the marbling comes back once stress is relieved.
