I am fortunate to live in a very beautiful place in the extreme northwest part of California. Yesterday, I got out the camera and tried to see things that a tourist/visitor would see.
Magnolia in the front yard
Everyday I drive through 4 1/2 miles of redwood forest to get to work or town. I stopped along the road in a wide spot and took a few pics. There were more spectacular trees, but cars were whizzing by at 60 mph (like I usually drive), and it was too dangerous to walk along the road.
I went to town (ten miles away) and took a picture of vulcan magnolia flowers in my parents front yard.
I checked out the rugged coastline. You can walk to this old lighthouse when the tide is low as in this picture
When I got back home, I walked down our trail to the beautiful Smith River which runs below our house. It has to be one of the prettiest rivers ever. It is always this color, unless it rains really hard.
This is our view from our back yard
We listen to this sound all night
