I would like to have some natives in my 150 gallon. I specifically would like to get a couple Northern Longears. My problem is, the room that the aquarium is in is pretty warm year-round. I have had this tank set up for about a month and my water temp is staying right at 84 degrees. In the winter I don't expect that the water temp will drop much below 78. Is this going to be too warm for these fish?

they'll probably survive, but they'll be in overdrive all the time. lots of aggression and wanting to mate constantly. with those tank temps, I'd go tropical.

That's kind of what I figured. I do have a partial basement, but I would have to have it would have to be rewired. There is only one outlet in the basement currently.

It is much cooler down there. But the way it is laid out it would not be practical. Plus the aquarium is currently located right beside my desk. I spend a lot more time here than in my basement.
