Northern pike care

I'm thinking of keeping northern pike aka esox lucius. can anyone give me more info on these fish, water parameters etc.
 
if your thinking about adding to your tank in your sig....... dont
 
my tank only consist of 2 motoro rays and a pleco. the one on the signature how do i remove it? havent been here for a long while

He means your tank is to small. As for the sig go to quick links at the top and scroll and click edit signature.
 
4' fish in a 6' tank..... Thats what he is talking about. Would be a sweet grow out though if you had a private pond to put it in after it out grew it.

guess i should wait till i have a bigger setup then i'll consider about northern pikes again
 
also rays are very poor tankmates, northern pikes are super aggresive, it would tear thoe poor rays toshreds, northern pikes attack humans swimmin in the lake
 
Not to mention the huge temperature difference.

Ya, skip the pike. If you like the look check out the Grass or Redfin Pickerals. I too would like Northern Pike but I KNOW how big they get. The grow to over 13" in 1 year in the wild and can get over 30# and 48" long. (I've got a 29# that I speared though the ice last winter at the taxodermist right now)
