Hello,
I just picked up a used 240 gallon (L200cm W75cm H60cm)
Currently building the stand, with IKEA stuff :-)

I need some advice on how to set up this and stocking ideas,
10 years ago, when I became a member here, i got a 55 gallon malawi tank. That tank was sold 6 years ago, but Ive always wanted to get into larger predatory fish.

I really want to get an Asian Arowana, and was considering several tank mates.
The Idea from the top of my head is:

1 Asian Arowana
2 Oscar
6 Clown Loaches
1 Stingray

Im completely open for stocking suggestions.

The tank came wiith a Fluval FX6, and I was considering buying a second one

That sounds like a lot of fish for that "small" of a tank. The Ray is definitely going to out grow it. It's only the depth of the arowanas easily attainable total length. I'd say it's to small for either of those fish. Unless you plan on getting large clown loaches to start they may become food or rather choking hazards for the larger fish. I hate to be a downer but this is only my opinion based on facts and real world accounts of questions like this. I've seen arowanas in similar tanks though usually by themselves. It's an ok starter tank for a ray or two but filtration would need to be upped alot. I said starter tank you need to be looking for something 2x or 3x it's depth (front to back) before to long. It would make a nice tank for a couple Oscars and some larger bodied tetras or some other cichlids. It would make a really nice African tank, don't know alot about predator haps but they look cool don't think they get to huge either. To be honest if I could get a Asian arowana I'd probably do that and be very happy. Again to me that tank is on the small side for that but I've seen them in similar sizes tanks.

How about some large CA predatory fish excluding Dovii?

I've been thinking about a SA community in this tank, and came up with a list, tell me what you think:

Severum
Chocolate cichlid
parrot Hoplarchus psittacus
Belly crawler pike
flagtail prochilodus
Oscar
Green terror
Ornate pim
Royal pleco
Black ghost knife
6 silver dollars

that would be WAY to overstocked, an oscar and ghost knife alone would need 240g
