Hey all i bought me a pair of motoros, they are just babys still but the male is eating like a pig and the females not.
What could i try too make her want too eat?

PLS HELP:nilly:

black worms

Ok is it like tubifex im from sweden soo i dont think i know exactly what blackworms is?..

You can try live tubifex. Blackworms are thicker than tubifex and are darker in color. At worst case, you can try smaller feeder fish like guppies or rosy red minnows. In my opinion, the worms would be a better bet though. As long as the ray is not extremely skinny you shouldn't worry about it going for a week or so without eating. Individual rays end up taking to the acclimation process differently. Keep the lights off in the tank, the water clean, and leave the worms in there for her to eat. I would also divide the two rays for the time being so you could more closely monitor if and what she's eating.

I dont know what you call them there but if you cant get any other worms try red wrigglers. They are also called trout/panfish worms at bait shops. They are earth worms that are on the small side. You can chop them up in small pieces. It seems with rays the smaller the better when it comes to getting them started on a food. My 7" motoro at first would only eat tiny chopped pieces of earth worms. Now he devours whole night crawlers even though he has hardly grown!!

either get live tubiflex, black, earth or blood worms for it. But please please make sure you wash the worms cleanly. they habour lots of parasite and bacterias.

else if you cant get those, try live ghost shrimps or feeder fishes..

how long is it in ur tank? give it a few days to get use to the tank..

Just curious as to how one can wash off parasites and bacteria? Are you saying wash the worms with anti-bacterial soap?!

The rays have been in the tank for about 5 days today.
I can see the bones just in front of the tail shes that skinny i tried earthworms but no progress i dont know what to do..

If you can see the bones, she hasn't been eating for awhile. It may be too late. All you can do is try a variety of foods, especially live foods. All those listed by everyone else are good foods to try. My pups ate the live blackworms first, and within two weeks were on chopped night crawlers. Put a variety (as many as you can find) of foods in the tank and see if she goes after anything. I also agree that seperating the two rays would be good.....it's possible the male is stressing her out. If you only have the one tank, put a divider in it. The female may eat if not pestered by the male.
