man, i have to just vent.

I live in an apartment filled with junk. and alot of stuff that isn't junk. a whole bunch of clothes and things that are good or can come in handy. Just think of stuff you'd store in the garage or in a shack, only thing i don't have a garage or a shack. imagine your brother left a weight set at your place. or a 5 pc couch set and you only got room for 3pcs.

I have 2 bedrooms. I should have a room mate, yet i don't. but I've been shooting the idea of making my own room a tank/ pet room with a bed. and just cleaning the whole room out and starting from scratch.that would also mean throwing away an entertainment center that is still good.

my other idea is scratch the room mate and just make the small room a tank/ computer room. clearing up my living room for TV and entertainment only.

another problem is have is i have 7 draws of DVDs that I just can't part with. I always seem to have time to watch something over and over, or to let friends borrow.

I just have a problem throwing away things that are not broken. I'd like to see more of my fish and my tanks. and to have them displayed properly.

man this has been a problem for me for the past week. trying to clean up my life.

maybe you should just sell some of the stuff you dont use/need as much, if you have trouble throwing it away. not sure..i tend to just throw stuff out. best of luck man

i know what your sayin, i had a 2br apt years ago and 1 br was used purely for storing my crap. when i moved into my house i put all my crap in storage for 5 years now(over 5 grand to rent that long). not a damn thing in there is worth that much money but i cant part with it, including tanks that i will use again "someday".

I am in the same boat, and it's sinking with the weight of my crap. Need to jettison some ballast.

you know i watch that show where they come in. they set up 3 areas. one for keepers, one for junk, one for not sure. and they just go over and over untill there is just minimal stuff.

I envy that show. I mean i have like a lot of vhs movies. and some shows we taped. but in reality I NEVER watch them. I really could just dump them and not miss them. but my brain tells me. eh, the tape is still good. or eh, might have some shows we may need the tapes later.

to tell you guys the truth. i'm not even sure why i have 2 vhs players. 1 for each tv.

as i look around. i see lots of things that are questionable. like cds i never listen to. a can with pens and pencils. play station original my ex used to play. and whats next to it? A BLOODY PS2!!

I got a stack of weights my brother left here. for who knows how long. I have a box of mail belonging to my ex room mate that i still get that he supposedly is supposed to come back from japan and collect. i even got a stack of records that i got from the club i was supposed to sell on ebay. yet never did.

don't belive me i'll take pics if you want. its so sickening i'm embarrased.

I think everyone has clutter but deciding whether to part with it or keep adding to it seperates you from a pack rat.

Honestly I would keep the stuff like the mail, consolidate the rest by going through it and making a keep/sell/throw away pile and/or think of better storage solutions. But I've been there too.

if its worth anything go unload some of the crap down at a pawn shop for a little coin. you can also donate it to the goodwill and write off your "donations" on your taxes, its great you can even decide how much its worth, as long as its reasonable.

A healthy balance is someone in your life that is the opposite. LOL My father was a massive packrat, my mother was not. My dad even drove me nuts with his clutter and not throwing anything out. I took after my mom, I have no problems tossing things out. As soon as my daughter outgrows something it is at Goodwills doorstep. I have to get it out.

I would suggest going through it all, if you have not used it in a long time get rid of it. Of course it is hard to get rid of something but that feeling goes away fast.

Sell it on ebay, pawn shops etc and use the money to put back INTO what you want. A nice fishroom. You will feel much better having something you want in the end. A reward. Go for it!

get a girlfriend and over a course of a couple months you'll find that you have more and more stuff missing and also your closet getting smaller and smaller!
:D
ahah
