So in the last yr ive had 5 aros, 3 silver and 2 blues, all of which had passed for a reason that is just bad luck. First went airborn from just the smallest spot, next 2 were at by something i didnt think was big enough to swallow them,( the jag in my avatar at the time was only 3-5"),next jumped and was about 5" during a wc and as i went to pick him up my stepson came running around the corner and stepped on it, adn the last which was a blue this afternoon was just gone. He was 4" and was in a floaten basket alone in a tank with a tsn and 2 pbass growouts. Which none are over 8". My girl said" I guess your not suppost to have a aro." I just dont think someone wants me t have one im guess'n.

how awful to hear this... and so sad to lose arows, and they are expensive..

Yes the money spent on the blue/blacks i could have had a great pair of rays, but i guess it just happens. I'll try again with some at a later time, i give up on a aro for now.

sucks, but i know what your saying. i have lost more then a few aros in my effort to get a community of them. sometimes when your down a light will show you something better. i am still waiting for my aro community light.

i dont know how u see my point of view here but i do not believe what ur GF says to u, unless she is saying it "soft language".
5 lost of the same species is indeed is alot, but if u back track the cause of it, its often is the mistake of the keeper like u and me and other keepers.
in ur case i see is not very well secure aquarium top, i know u say its very small opening but apperently is big enough for the aro to jump out thru.
i hope u try again with the lesson learn from the 5 aros u had, it is great fish to have and admire!!

Extending the effort of your research will greatly diminish the amount of bad luck you have.

Well, a friend had about the same bad luck as you, your not alone. Yes, their first 6-9 months are the toughest. I would suggest starting over with everything you have learned with one change of letting it grow out in it's own tank. GL
