I have had the male for a mintue.. and the female for about 2-3 weeks LOL YES the fry are about half a centimeter long :D I would show you but the male is head first in the timy nook and when i shine my led in there he blocks them off now LOL Only were able to get my wife and myself a good look :D

Yea they make fantastic parents. Male won't let them out until he thinks they are ready and is safe outside (which may be never if you have big swimming fish about). Obviously he cant keep them there forever though, and some are bound to escape.

Congrats on the success! What ancistrus sp. are they, you know? Do they still have egg sacks or gone?

I couldn't tell on the egg sac :).. I just kinda was sittin there with my wife when i realized I hadn't seen him in a while LOL Well i had seen his tail but not around the tank... Adn so I started looking and seen him head first in a small nook in the lace rock.. so I thought hhmmm thas odd since he usually is out eating when i feed the tank LOL.. And then I thought i was Hallucinating as even thought this is an easier sp. to breed from what i hear it is still a plec ... And we had just bought the femal a couple weeks ago and I thought they were not of breeding age not that I would know LOL..

Then I had my wife come look cause her eyes are sharper than mine :D and confirmed it !! So then I kept looking harder till i could see a small bunch swimming around the walls of the nook..

Sorry no idea what sp.. It is the sp i posted earlier last month though when I was questioning the difference between sexes :) I'll hunt it down.. I know it is one of the really common ones as I got them from the lfs that carries "assorted" african cichlids LOL :)

This one :)

They are as stated before in a 150 g. small community setting.. about 6 guppies.. a gourami, a rhino pec, two small pangasius, 3 keyholes and 3 cories :) not your ideal community unless they are running around in a 150 gallon tank :D

Nice. You must have good water in the tank and the right set up congrats. Raising the fry is the fun part :nilly:

Ya huh..It's a first for me so lets see if ANY survive :)

I have to agree that raising fry and watching them grow is definitely the fun part. I can't wait for the pics. It takes a good camera and a steady hand to get the fry though. I have a 10 MPix camera and couldn't get my convict fry. Just tiny blurs.

And a huge CONGRATS on the fry :headbang2
