Hey, i'm interested in getting my 29 gallon tank going again. Im thinking of getting smaller fish to fill it, I'm wanting to keep my male betta in it and just want to get suggestions of what kind of fish that are compatible and how many should be kept to avoid bio overload. I'll be running an undergravel and a Whisper 55 gallon HOB filter. If i can get some input/opinions it will be greatly appreciated!

Dwarf Gourami's add a colourful display as do small cichlids such as Apistogramma, Microgeophagus, Pelvicachromis etc.

Really? Im being serious when I say my 3 dwarf gourami's didnt even take notice of my betta in a tank with a 3ftx1ft footprint.

I have seen a colony of Kribensis grow in 29g before....The guy at the nstore tells me he just sells off the fry when it "looks" too crowded....The tanks are pretty tight too...Back is covered with rocks and broken clay pots....Gaps and mid to front tank is covered with plants.....The Kribs spawn like there is no tomorrow....

Betta splendens..Sure. Wild ones such as Betta coccina exist and are fine with gouramis provided the gouramis do not harass them but I prefer pygmy gouramis such as Parosphromenus deissneri to be kept with bettas (not Betta splendens, of course).
